Ludlow Green Festival 2010 - Travelling to the Green Festival
Getting to the Green Festival in Ludlow
Saturday August 29th and Sunday August 30th 2010
We think that travelling to the Green Fair should be part of the fun so here’s a few suggestions as to how you can get to join us…
Walking
If you live in Ludlow then one of the healthiest ways is to walk into town! From most parts of town it is a 15-20 minute walk.
There happens to be about 8000 of us living within easy walking distance of town so you will not be on your own.
Factfile: Walking one mile uses up 100kcal of energy and helps you to keep fit.
That is why Ludlow 21 is campaigning for a better physical environment for walking in Ludlow-the more pleasant it is,
the more people like it.
Cycling
You might like to try a bike ride into town for a change! Sundays are often the best days to try out your cycling skills as town
roads are generally quieter. Make it an outing. For example, you can cycle along the Linney and up
Dinham to the Market Square. Those coming from the Steventon and the south side of town can travel alongside
Temeside and up Lower Broad Street, Silk Mill Lane and Camp Lane to ride alongside the old town walls.
Factfile: The National Cycle Network passes within one mile of half of the population according to Sustrans.
Route 44 passes through Ludlow!
Green Fair Park & Ride
If you can, leave the car at home and travel to the Festival using public
transport (or a bike!). On Sunday, there will be special buses leaving
the Eco Park (Ludlow Park and Ride), which is located off the Southern
Roundabout on the A49 Ludlow bypass. The buses will leave the Eco
Park every half hour from 8.50am, taking the 702 and 703 routes into
the centre of Ludlow. The last bus from Castle Square to the Eco Park
will depart at 5.05pm.
Car Sharing
We know that for many people living near to Ludlow the only way will be the car so we are hoping that you’ll load it
up with friends and relatives to make the journey worthwhile and more energy efficient!
Factfile: Given rising travel costs, many towns and cities are now encouraging car sharing as the way ahead.
In Paris they’re even buying electric cars for residents and visitors to share when making trips in the city.
